Laura and Joe

I recently had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Laura and Joe. They were married in Cannon Hall, South Yorkshire. There was much talk of impending rain and everyone was well prepared with wellingtons in advance. Not that anyone needed them though, the rain stayed away, the location was lovely, and the people made for a great days' shooting.

Previously I've shot weddings on my own but, for the last few, weddings I've doubled up with another shooter to offer double the coverage. So no more missed candids while herding a group shot for example, and, double the ideas for shooting all the important parts of the day. Andrew Tobin (Tobinators.com) is the other half of SLIKimages.com and, like myself, shoots sports as well as people. We drew straws and I was off early to shoot the bridal preparation while Andrew met up with the groom and best man.

Once again we got lucky and Laura and Joe (and Best Man Pete) were great to shoot with throughout the day, and more than willing to indulge in "just one more shot" in between champagne and canape breaks.

A reconnaissance visit to the venue in advance had also helped spot and check for a load of primary and secondary locations for both the posed shots and more impromtu set-ups as the wedding party walked from the ceremony to reception venue. The final set-piece shot of the day involved involved some previously spotted steps for lead in and composition, some ambient light balancing and some precarious balancing of the other sort as we man-handled a soft-box into an appropriate position.

All in all it was a busy, long day that was made great fun by Laura and Joe and their family and guests. Thanks and congratulations to you all, we couldn't have gotten the shots without you!
